Dellinger toward the end of his career
University Museum Collections, University of Arkansas Dellinger Becomes a Relic
Dellinger’s zeal for ancient artifacts ultimately proved his undoing. He failed to note the changes in archeology following World War II. Principal among these was a shift from the centrality of objects toward an emphasis on the contextual information to be found in archeological sites and what that might reveal about the people who used them. Dellinger had become a relic.
