Sam Dellinger's Quest Arkansas Antiquities Native Peoples The Arc of Archeology
Sam Dellinger and the Raiders of the Lost Arkansas honors the man who was Arkansas's first archeologist, first anthropologist, and the “father” of the University of Arkansas Museum. In his quest to protect Arkansas's heritage from dispersal to out-of-state museums and private collectors, Dellinger gathered nearly 8,000 prehistoric artifacts for the UA Museum. His work is now recognized as one of the finest collections of prehistoric Native American artifacts in the United States. Objects from the University Museum, as well as from some of the out-of-state institutions that collected Arkansas artifacts, are shown here for the first time.
