Oscar Evans: Pine Cone Quilt, ca. 1984
 Cotton, rayon, pieced
The Pine Cone quilt was pieced by Oscar Evans, circa 1984. He has a blue ribbon indicating a first prize conferred on his quilt in a local contest about 1986. Oscar’s Pine Cone was pieced after he had helped his cousin Catherine Parker Hall make one. He liked hers so well that the two combined forces to make one for him. It took over six months to complete, as they worked on it intermittently. His and Catherine’s Pine Cones are the only two quilts of this design he has ever made or helped to make. Oscar always treasured his Pine Cone quilt, kept it wrapped in a sheet, placed in a closet, and only brought out to show to others.
