Little Rock--The deadline for enrollment is July 9 for the Old State House Museum’s popular Summer Fun youth enrichment program slated for July 19-23, 2010. The museum’s director, Bill Gatewood, is excited about this year’s program. “The Summer Fun program is great for kids who have a real interest in history.” The annual Summer Fun program is supported in part by the Arkansas Natural & Cultural Resources Council.
The 2010 youth enrichment program is titled Arkansas MythBusting. During a week of hands-on and classroom learning, participants will explore strange and unusual myths about the Old State House Museum and Arkansas history. Kids in grades 5-10 (rising) will learn how to prove or disprove these myths through analytical observation, investigation and problem solving. Participants will also have fun and make new friends.
Arkansas MythBusting classes will take place from 8:00 a.m. to noon daily. The registration fee per student is $75, and includes program supplies, snacks and a t-shirt. Registration forms may be accessed at http://www.oldstatehouse.com/!userfiles/summerfun2010.pdf. For more information about this year’s Summer Fun program, please contact Daniel Cockrell in the Old State House Museum’s education department at (501) 324-9685.
