GOVERNOR TO APPEAR AT OLD STATE HOUSE MUSEUM

Little Rock--Governor of Arkansas, Mike Beebe, will be the special guest at this year’s Old State House Museum Associates’ (OSHMA) Annual Supper slated for Tuesday, November 10, 2009. The event begins at 5:30 p.m., with a pre-reception within the original state capitol building. An informal program entitled From Searcy to the Governor's Mansion will be presented by Governor Mike Beebe and first lady Ginger Beebe about their lives in politics. The governor’s Chief of Staff, Moril Harriman, will serve as the moderator for the evening’s presentation which begins at 6:30 p.m. A Southern supper of native Arkansas foods will be served following the program.

Admission is $100 per person. Corporate tables are available for $1,500 for this lively event. A portion of ticket costs and donations are tax deductible. To purchase tickets to this year’s Annual Supper, or for more information, call Sammye Johnston at (501) 664-1879.

OSHMA hosts the Annual Supper each autumn featuring historical, political or regional speakers. This event is held in the historic 1885 House of Representatives Chamber on the second floor of the Old State House. Previous speakers include: Rick Atkinson, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and military historian; Winston Spencer Churchill, English Member of Parliament; General (Retired) Wesley Clark, former commander of NATO forces; and actor/producer Judge Reinhold. The Annual Supper allows OSHMA to support programs and exhibits of the Old State House Museum, a museum of Arkansas history.

About the Old State House Museum
The Old State House Museum is a museum of the Department of Arkansas Heritage and shares the goal of all seven Department of Arkansas Heritage agencies, that of preserving and enhancing the heritage of the state of Arkansas. The agencies are Arkansas Arts Council, Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, Delta Cultural Center in Helena, Historic Arkansas Museum, Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, and the Old State House Museum.
