8.    East Wing Gallery - An Enduring Union: Civil War in Arkansas

In the 1880s the smaller four of these rooms served as Committee Rooms for the legislature. At that time the larger room with the odd center chimney was the Supreme Court Library, and likely was in 1836 as well. At that earlier date, half the space may have served as the Supreme Court Justices Chambers. During the Medical School era, the four smaller rooms served as offices for the Physics and Histology departments. The larger space was occupied by the infamous Dissecting Room.

Now…
These rooms serve as the East Wing Gallery, the largest of the museum’s changing exhibit spaces.
