At least 104,000 Americans enlisted as regulars or volunteers to fight Mexico. About 1,500 Arkansans volunteered to fight in the U.S.-Mexican War. Exact statistics are not available for Mexican enlistees; it is safe to say that the number of men who served in the Mexican Army, either through enlistment or conscription, was considerably higher than American figures.
