Captain Stephen Enyart
Captain Stephen B. Enyart's
company of mounted gunmen,
who sought to be accepted
into the Arkansas Mounted
Regiment a year earlier, was
accepted into service in
1847. Enyart's company was
made up mainly of
Fayetteville and Fort Smith
men. The company was sent to
Mier, Mexico, where it
served much of its time
guarding wagon trains in
northern Mexico.
