Captain Albert Pike

A prominent member of Arkansas’s Whig Party, this Little Rock poet, attorney and politician helped raise the Little Rock Guards and was elected captain of that company. During the war, Pike conducted a letter-writing campaign to Arkansas newspapers about the regiment’s inefficient but politically-connected leaders.
