Exhibit Educational Programs

The museum also offers programs to enhance the educational impact of our exhibits. During the run of "Brothers in Arms", our recent Civil War exhibit, the Old State House Museum hosted several events; these included a dinner with nationally-renowned historian James MacPherson, a symposium on the controversial Battle of Poison Springs, and a seminar on Patrick Cleburne - the legendary Confederate general from Arkansas. During our exhibit on the University of Arkansas Medical School’s tenure at the Old State House, we sponsored a series of gallery talks by noted figures like Dr. Thomas Bruce, then Dean of the College of Public Health, and Dr. Edith Irby Jones, the first black woman to graduate from the University of Arkansas Medical School.
