Explorers

Grandmother's Cottage

(Grade K to 3)

The Explorers Tour provides information about Arkansas's first state capitol in grade-level-appropriate language and emphasizes many of the public's favorite exhibits. The Wilderness exhibit showcases a territorial depiction of our state and many of its early inhabitants, such as regional Native Americans, European explorers and traders, and pioneer Arkansans. Grandmother's Cottage is a "hands on" gallery that enables youngsters to touch and feel items of everyday life dating from the 1930s. Other exhibits included in this tour are the "First Families" exhibit and the 1836 House of Representatives Chamber.
