Our Own Sweet Sounds II - CD

The Department of Arkansas Heritage and the Old State House Museum have developed a 2-disc interactive CD-ROM set focusing on the museum’s Send You Back to Arkansas: Our Own Sweet Sounds II exhibit. Intended for Arkansas educators, this free educational resource is full of great information and visuals about Arkansas musicians, with an introduction by Arkansas actor/musician/director Billy Bob Thornton.

The CDs include background information on the following music genres: blues, country, folk, gospel, jazz and rock—before going into artist biographies. Some of the featured artists include country musician Johnny Cash, gospel artist Sister Rosetta Tharpe and rock group Evanescence. In addition to the bios, the CDs also include artist photographs, artifacts featured in the Sweet Sounds II music exhibit, concert video clips, and a jukebox with 24 tracks.

Project creators/authors are Lea Baker, formerly of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, and Georganne Sisco, Education Director at the Old State House Museum, with Aristotle in charge of the design work. E-mail Georganne at georganne@arkansasheritage.org if you would like to receive the Sweet Sounds CD-ROM.
