Margaret "Maggie" Hadley married the future Governor of Arkansas after a two-week courtship during the Civil War. The family moved to Little Rock when Jones was elected Attorney General. Although she did not campaign with her husband, she was a devoted wife and mother. Governor and Mrs. Jones frequently entertained at their home in Little Rock.

She was a member of the Episcopal Church and also of the Memorial Chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy.
