TERRA ANN SMITH FUTRELL
Wife of Junius Marion Futrell, 30th Governor (1933-1937)

Born: 1875
Died: October 30, 1967
Children: six
Original Home: Independence County, Arkansas

Ann Smith was president of her class at Pleasant Plains Academy. Although she performed well in her studies, especially Latin and math, she did not pursue higher education. She chose the domestic path and married Junius Marion Futrell and raised six children with him.

Ann Futrell's personality and common sense were an asset not only to her but also to her husband. She got along well with people and is credited with winning many votes for her husband. Marion Futrell was aware of his wife' capabilities and stated, "Without her I could not get along. She is well nigh the perfect type."
