INA MCKENZIE DAVIS
Wife of Jefferson Davis, 20th Governor (1901-1907)

Born: October 6, 1862
Died: April 10, 1909
Children: twelve
Original Home: Monticello, Arkansas

A native of Monticello, Ina McKenzie moved with her mother to Russellville, where she finished high school before attending the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She transferred to the Peabody Normal College in Tennessee but married Jefferson Davis before graduation.

Ina McKenzie Davis made her home and family top priority. She was a devoted wife and mother. She supported her husband during his three tempestuous terms as governor. A mother of twelve children, Mrs. Davis suffered the heartache of burying four that did not survive infancy.
