ANNE WADE ROARK BROUGH
Wife of Charles Hillman Brough, 25th Governor (1917-1921)
Mrs. Brough wore an inaugural gown of plum colored silk velvet with a matching coat that was made in St. Louis. The dress is made of a three-quarter-length jacket belted over a blouse and skirt. Velvet buttons trim the jacket in the front and in the back. The bodice features a cream colored design over plum velvet. Tassels trim the wide shirred belt that extends from below the bust to below the natural waistline. The long straight sleeves are also trimmed with tassels. The floor-length skirt hangs straight. The three-quarter-length coat is lined with cream colored satin and features a V-neckline and a Red Fox collar and cuffs. While the coat is cut straight the belt helps it to achieve a more fitted look.
