This collection of the inaugural gowns of Arkansas governors' wives is the oldest such collection in the country, pre-dating even the Smithsonian's collection of the gowns of the nation's first ladies. Here you can take a slide show tour of the collection's history, which --trust us-- is an interesting story in its own right. You can also browse through the gowns either chronologically or alphabetically by the governors' last names. There is a biography of each first lady and a picture and description of each gown. Where they are available, we also include pictures and descriptions of any fashion accessories or family photographs.
